Analogue Meets Digital

 

E C Munson is a an emerging photographer in the “third chapter” of her life who reignited her love for photography in 2018. Currently living in Brampton, she feels most at home in the Caledon hills which are reminiscent of the Finger Lakes area where she grew up on a dairy farm.

 

Studio By Design

Is a registered Ontario business that includes ecmunson’s photography and arts practice.  It also is the name of her website which showcases her online shop, Ellie’s Emporium, and DIMEC, her associate company for content creation and marketing.

DIMEC

Design Inspired Media: Expressive Content is a registered Ontario company of ecmunson.  Under its mandate she creates content for promotional materials, produces newsletters, writes columns published in local media about the arts and cultural scene, forms marketing plans, develops outreach events, and does some social media posting.  

Affiliations

ecmunson belongs to several arts organizations in southern Ontario. From exhibition opportunities to sitting as a director on boards, she is an active member with their different initiatives.  Through DIMEC, she provides service on a gratis basis for promotional materials, articles for newsletters, and edits two newsletters for various groups.  She has regular columns published in local media about the arts and cultural scene, consults on marketing plans, creates outreach events, and coordinates a team for social media posting.

 

Latow Photography Guild

operates out of the Art Gallery of Burlington with two working spaces, a professional studio and darkroom/finishing room, for its members. As one of six guilds associated with AGB, the two annual exhibitions are coordinated by Arts Burlington which also maintains a website and social media presence for the guilds. The Latow group has weekly activities for special interest groups and features professional development with annual speakers, workshops, and seminars.

Headwaters Arts

is a non-profit collective of artists that runs out of the Headwaters Arts Gallery in the Alton Mill Arts Centre.  Members have an opportunity to show their work in themed shows, the annual fall festival, and the year-end holiday show and sale.  They may apply to do a proposal solo or group show in the HA Gallery and to hang a show at the Millcroft Inn and Spa in Alton.

Visual Arts Brampton

is a non-profit arts organization that broadly “encourages creativity”  in the community through their educational programming, workshops, drop by Open Studios, and  exhibition opportunities in their display and gallery spaces. Celebrating 35 years of service, they are nominated for an Excellence in Business Award in 2021 with Brampton Board of Trade.

Credit Valley Artisans

is a group of four guilds operating from studio spaces in the Artisans  Cottage in Cedarvale Park, Georgetown.  They hold an annual Christmas show and participate in the summer Farmers’ Market, along with mounting exhibits in different businesses in the area. The Palette, Pencil & Plus Guild celebrated its 55th year in 2020.  It holds workshops, meets weekly at the cottage, and has an active plein air group for its members. 

Visual Arts Mississauga

not-for-profit charitable arts organization. As one of Mississauga’s six pillar arts and culture organizations and its premier visual art centre, VAM concentrates its efforts on three areas of excellence: Art Education, Art Exhibition and Community.  

Beaux Arts Brampton

is an artist run gallery that serves as a not-for-profit exhibition space for visual artists and photographers founded in 2002 by the Brampton Arts Council.  It draws from a wide demographic and geographical area for exhibits and its growing membership.

Joshua Creek Heritage Arts Centre

 is a registered Canadian charity located in Oakville Ontario. The barn gallery and 1827 house and studio are situated on 12-acre farm in a 20,000-year old valley.  There are exhibition opportunities for emerging artists and an Annual Juried Show of Artists in HaltonPeel.

Mississauga Arts Council

provides promotion of arts and cultural events for their members along with an array of workshops for emerging, mid-career, and established artists and performance based endeavours.  They are “... dedicated to enabling the growth of the arts by creating opportunity and connection between artists and residents in Mississauga”.
